Week 17 - 2 sick boys

kit: moody blues by SP

We are just taking turns to be sick this week. :( And thus such a moody sad layout. But we had fun in the later part of week as we made a small road trip up north. :)

Sketch: Sketchy Thursdays
Digital Kits: Shabby Princess (Happy-go-lucky), twopeasinapod (boho chic), Diana's Creations, Storeide.se

I'm so happy that I learnt to digitally "ink" the edges of my paper while doing this layout. This is one effect that I really love to use on my paper layouts and I'm glad I learnt to do it on PS as well!! Love it! Love it!

For those who are interested, here's how for those of you using PS CS5
Go to your paper layer, under effects, select "Inner Glow"
I used a dark brown for my glow colour.
And here are the other settings:
  • Blend Mode - "Color Burn"
  • Opacity - eyeball this. but usually more than 75%
  • Noise - I sometimes didn't bother with his as the line was thin.
  • Technique - "Softer"
  • Source - "Edge"
  • Choke - 1%
  • Size - I eyeball this. But it's at about 50%
  • Contour - "cone (deep)"
  • Anti Alias - checked
  • Range - 45%
  • Jitter - I eyeball this. I really can't tell what difference it made.
(* I learnt this from a tutorial in Scrapgirls. The instructions there are so darn easy to follow!!)

Splashin' Good Time!

I love my not-so-new Quickutz Silhouette SD! I can now cut titles in minutes. Bought the machine last year when I was in the USofA. :D Anyway, this was an easy layout to do. The paper is from DCWV All About Boys paper stack. All I had to do was simply to cut the photos, slot them in, cut some title letters and a line of journalling and done! Easy Peasy!

This is an old layout that I did and when I was done, I realised that the title was a little too tiny and flimsy. With my new Silhouette, I could redo the title in a flash!! :D :D And now I like this layout much more!

Apologies for the blurry photos cos they were just quick snaps with my phone camera.

Gosh, I've been lazy recently. I've been at home quite a bit but just was too lazy to scrap. Here's one finally!!

I've got loads of old photos of Kieran, just waiting to be scrapped. Loved this cheeky smile of his!

The durian slurper..

Just had to record our little baby slurping away at the durian. Got the word art slurp on google images. Printed it out and matted it on black foam. Rather like the effect. :)

Kiefer's 1st Birthday Album

Kit: Blues by Shabby Princess

Made a mini album out of all the photos we had of the party.

Took quite a while but I really loved it!

Most importantly, it is laminated thus it's virtually indestructible!!
